ok i have a 98 civic ek 4 door and i CUT my shock towers and now i been through 3 axles . but every time i go over a bump the passenger side makes a lumpy sound when my boot rips and grease goes out. so what i want to know is, ARE the hydro axles different from cable tranny axles? can i use cable axles in my hydro tranny? i heard newer civic axles HAVE DOUBLE WISHBONE SUSPENSION. is that true?

Let me guess. You also cut your stock springs in half and are riding on stock shocks.
Your ek has a double wishbone suspension, it really has nothing to do with the axles.
If you want to ride that low you'll probably need to cut the frame rails for the axles to clear. You might as well do it, you already ruined your car.
How does one come to the conclusion that cutting the shock towers is a good idea?

ok pretty much i did this because cause i like riding dumped. and ive done this before so i did cut it in the right spot so im wondering if these axles only go so far down then then start grinding ok my question is can i use cable axles?

You're best bet would be to use whatever axle your trans is.
What suspension setup are you using?
People have run super slammed setups without cutting the shock towers, you just need really high rate springs.
If you're running that low there's a good chance the axles are hitting the frame rail. Have someone bounce the car and look to see if the axles are hitting the rail.
Personally, I'd just bring the car up a little bit, it would solve all of your problems.

Alright, I did some house cleaning and editing for clarity. Let's try to keep this clean.
OP, do not attack other users or circumvent the language filters.
As for your axles, the double wishbone suspension design has nothing to do with them. Neither would axles from a cable-actuated tranny make any difference. Since you cut your shock towers, most likely the axles are now hitting the frame rails, as was previously mentioned. You have three options.
1. Raise the car up.
2. Use stiffer springs.
3. Notch the frame rails.
Any one or two of these options should solve your problems.
Also keep in mind that your shock towers are now weakened with the large holes in them. You need to box some sheet metal around them to add strength back in.

i still don't understand this one bit, i've had cars that were almost to the point of undriveable and i have NEVER had to cut anything. especially not something structurally important like my shock tower. this is just stupid.
in for pics.

You probably had stiff@$$ springs. OP most likely does not, hence why the UCA was hitting the shock towers. Going too low with too soft a spring will do that.
i have heard of the adjustable ball joint type UCA's hitting, but if your stock ones are hitting you have some serious issues.

There are pics around here in the slammed threads.
h4x0r3d way of doing it:

Being too low with a camber kit causes this:

This is how you do it right. Cut and raised the metal to add clearance while still maintaining stock-like appearance. I've also seen it boxed out, which isn't as pretty but probably allows a bit more room.
