Default Quick generic brake question regarding the rear piston

98 Integra GSR, but this is a general question for any braking system that applies...

My rear brake piston SCREWS in, but when I screw it in, the rubber boot around it stays put, so it looks like it'd rip if i kept twisting. The piston also isn't going down much. I'm twisting it down clockwise like a normal screw.

Is there something I'm missing? How do i get this piston back in??

Get a loaner tool from your local parts store if they do them,it puts pressure on the piston aswell as turning it.Try spraying the boot where it holds to the piston with a good lube to see if that helps.

sounds like the seal around your caliper piston is getting caught. i would route it back out and attempt again. if it continues to get caught, it could be from debris or rust on your rear caliper's piston. coat the piston with a lil grease...it should go in without catching on the seal while youre twisting it back in.

also, is your e-brake ON or OFF? wedge the front wheel w/ a block of wood and drop the e-brake, might be easier to compress piston

Oh I guess this was important to mention, the caliper is off the car

I'll try to grease it up a little bit and see if it turns without the boot
