As most of you guys already know, the holes left over from removing side molding can be headache to deal with. Ive dont some research and there are two main ways to deal with it, fiberglass or bondo which some people say they have not had a problem or welding up the holes which some people think it should be the only right way to be done.

1. My question is for those of you who has choose to go with fiberglass, did the paint eventually crack?please be honest.

2. For those of you who have welded the holes up with sheet metal AND HAVE DONE IT YOURSELF,(was warping sheet metal a big issue? I welded on the radiator support but that was a lot thicker the sheet metal) if you can leave a descriptive intruction on the way you did it, i would greatly appreciate your time! thanks

:my integra is currently sitting there with the side moldings off and a different color JDM frontend ready to be repainted by I would like to sort out the DUMB holes! haha

 

Weld them shut.
Start from the outsides of the holes and move inwards, best if you use a MIG welder or flux core.

Ok from what I have been been researching(I could be wrong), the holes are too big to be completed filled up with weld so you have to cut out thing sheet metals and lay behind the holes. what do you think? thks

 

I welded my entire bay w/o anything behind them, although it would make it easier if there was something behind them.....

after you weld the holes shut, you have to grind the welds down.

 

Do not use bondo, it will crack after drying from the impact of shutting the doors. Welding them shut is the the best way to go about it.

 

i used fiber glass , i banged on the holes to make al small dent den filled with fiberglass so that it would be flush with the rest oof the panel. just my .02

 

Weld them with backplate and a little bondo to smooth em out after grinding.

 

are you planning on shaving the doors to make the dip smooth with the body?

i would pull the door panels and window and weld a small plate behind, weld in the holes, grind them down and use some fiberglass to make everything flush and smooth.
