I know its a long ways away but I wondering how many of you Washingtonians would be interested in driving to Port Townsend for a meet possibly during the summer. Its an awesome place not hard to get to, with restaurants, waterfront, and all that good stuff incase youre too bored. Vw owners drove from all over washington to meet up here today and the turn out was pretty awesome so i was wondering if it took place in the summer how many people would show up? heres a picture of the turn out today even though the weather was pretty crappy. They expected 300 cars to show up but the town was filled with volkwagen's, bmw's, audi's and porche's. this picture was only half of the feild, the other side of the feild looked the exact same.



if enough people decide that they would like to meet here ill figure out how the vw people did it to make it happen. Its not a public parking lot so itll be just strictly our cars too.

well this is not official by any means.....yet. im gonna see how the volkswagen owners did it cause they do it once a year supposedly. I beleive they had a sponser to organize everything and i think passes were cans of food for all who attended. They started off at a parking garage in tacoma and just cruised all the way to Port Townsend. I just thought it would be a cool idea for us honda owners to get in on this sort of thing.

 

Did they take a ferry?

 

no i beleive they had a pre-meet in tacoma and took the tacoma narrows way through gorst, bremerton, chimacum and all the way to port townsend. Its pretty much a straight shot from the tacoma narrows and hood canal bridge.

Aww, I see... nice drive but kinda long lol. SOunds like fun! A lot of people around here are the type to say, "man, that's deep... I don't have any gas..." I just don't give a damn, especially if it's something fun

 

ive read on the vw forums that the guys had a blast and thought the drive went pretty smoothly. even tho it is kinda far from where most people are its still a pretty amazing sight to see tons of nice and clean hondas cruising in a giant group down the freeway. I live about 10 minutes away from Port Townsend but Id drive all the way to tacoma just to experience the drive with bunches and bunches of other northwesterners and their hondas.

this thing is starting to pick up lol. like i said before, the volkswagen guys had a sponsor that was incorporated somehow with Northwest Harvest or something and let them park inside the feild. Anybody know who would sponsor a meet like this?

 

ill see what i can do i can find out more info on getting the feild open this is a great idea its awsome views up here, there was hundreds of cars at the feild and in fort worden i hate vw's but this was off the hook love to see it full of hondas and acuras, it seems like we always have meets but no drive,s the vw guys always go for a drive with multiple stops, we should do the same some day.... great idea hope it works...

Achtuning (a shop in the Bellevue/Kirkland area) handled all the arrangements for the Port Townsend Cruise. Sadly I didn't make it this year, but it's always a huge turnout even with the less then awesome weather. The only problem I can think of, is the lack of a shop to do the same for the Honda scene. Are there any decent Honda shops around that could handle such an event?

The Euro crowd has the Leavenworth Cruise in June/July as well that doubles the turnout for Port Townsend.

Yeah, its kinda hard driving from here all the way to tacoma or seattle to every meet with a small group of hondas. then getting lost haha. But yeah i think this would be awesome if people actually came out, checked out THIS side of washington and not just the seattle/tacoma area. Theres alot more natural scenery out here and hardly no traffic to speak of.

If youre down to make that far of a trip, DO IT!!! lol

Would Speedfactory in tacoma do something like that? I know theres a few tuning shops around the tacoma area but ill have to do more research on that.

If its a sick and clean ride then why not? I spotted a Subaru Wrx in one of the vw forums at the meet.

 

That was really the only shop I could think of. The others are little hole in the wall places that never last very long.

 

Yeah thats what i was thinking. do you guys think they might be down for something like this? maybe we can make it an annual event, that would be sweet. Instead of picking different spots for meets every single time.

 

Does anyone that works there post on here? Maybe have them chime in.

 

During the first weekend of Oct. there is an event in Port Townsend Called the Kinetic race...Most of you WA. cats probably already know of it but it would be cool to have a cruise up there during this event too.. looks like ill be at port Townsend twice this year
