Default 98 gs broke down on the GS parkway, doh!

so i was driving and it kinda just stalled. i pulled over and tried to start it again and its very inconsistent with it turning over, it will be fast one second then slow then fast again. i got it towed home and i tried to start it and it back fired twice then continued to be very inconstant... so its getting spark and fuel. i havent really looked at it yet i will in the morning but my guess is my timing belt skipped a tooth? its on there and tight so idk. FML guys, PS: garden state parkway towing is ****ING EXPENSIVE

What mile on the GSP did you break down? There are only two companies who are authorized to tow on the GSP, and it's always very expensive. Curious as to how many miles your tow was for and how much.

Check both underdash and underehood, just get a fuse puller and get to pullng

check your compression, head gasket break between 2 cylinders will cause an inconsistent turnover

Check for spark again, if there's little/no spark, i'd say distributor cap and rotor, which is an inexpensive fix.
