Lost! Please Help! (fuel system issue possibly?)
So i bought an '89 EF sedan a few months ago, and it has battled me every day.
As of right now my car is barely running, and i need some help!
Here it is: the symptoms my car has right now are:
-accelerating very slow
-accelerating very erratically
-and has now developed some back firing
Here is what i have done:
-swapped o2 sensor
-swapped all vac lines
-New fuel filter.
thinking maybe clogged fuel injectors? but not 100% sure.
any help would be greatly appreciated!
-thank you

I would start by replacing your spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor and go from there.Maybe run a few liters/gallons of premium gas to clean them out, best of luck.
I will be trying what you suggested red ef tomorrow I have been on graveyards all week.
I will let you all know how it turns out! Thank you all for the suggestions.
I gotta replace the water pump too pretty soon so ill be taking care of the timing belt then.

so i did the cap rotor, and new plugs. its still running horrible. so hopefully, im going to redo the timing, and while im in there replace the water pump (another headache) this weekend. hopefully it wil be running right. its looking pretty sad these days.
for those wondering, this is what it looks like. except with newer rims on it

a clogged cat will cause the same symptoms, put a vacuum gauge on it and see where your vacuum reads should be a bout 18 20 hg's, or remove your o2 and see how it runs. make sure where you do your water pump that the timing marks line up. it could also be a burnt valve but you will know when you hook up the vacuum gauge. good luck
