Okay, so i was switching over to my summer tires and in the process of loosening my rear tires, the lug nut key snapped. cheap piece of crap. Either way, any ideas how to get it out, i don't have a welder.

drill it out or just hook some vice grips on the lug nut and try to turn it off and just replace it.

 

take the rest of the lugs off using a breaker bar. if you have a welding machine around you can weld something to the back of the key thats stuck in there and take the piece out OR drill into it and use a self tapping screw to take that piece out.

get a drill and drill as much of it out, and then use a allen key to get it out. ether that or get a cheap 12 point socket just big enough (more like snug) and hammer it on to that lug nut and take it off like that.

 

Well i never planned on cutting my rim ^^. but since all the stores are closed, ill try the drill bit thing tomorrow, i have to buy a new key to get the other nuts off too.

Drill a hole down the middle, thread the hole with a tap, screw in a bolt and pull the broken part out by pulling on the bolt.

 

while you wait for the stores to open up again. maybe spray your lugs down with some PB blaster or other penetrating lubricant?

 

Alright, i did that, might help with i drill it tomorrow.

 

i have to say though, at least my key broke on my first back tire swap, so now my fronts are on yokohamas and backs on winter tires, my axle will still be all good
