Increasing HP
Hey everyone. So I have an 1996 Honda Accord EX 5spMT. Currently have f22b1 and a cold air intake (unsure of brand). I plan on swapping the engine with a h22 or h22a1. Add DC Ceramic 2pc 4-2-1 headers, GReddy Evo 2 Exhaust, AEM Cold Air Intake, and Accord Euro-R Intake Manifold. Are these parts good for speed increase? Or should I replace something I listed with something better? Should I get camshafts or anything like that?
p.s. sorry if I seem new to this because I kind of am. So I'm still researching on cars and parts and what makes it work and stuff like that.

What are your plans for the car and what is your budget? Answer these questions and that will determine what engine upgrades you can do. H22 swap and running maintenance will cost you anywhere from $1200-$3000 depending if you do the work yourself or not.
When you buy a used engine. It is always best to do all of the regular maintenance while the engine is out of the chassis. Gaskets, seals timing & balance shaft belts & tensioners, water pump etc..etc.... or you could just drop it in and hope it lasts.

I'm on using around 1k~3k for the engine, and since I don't really know that much about cars, I'm going to need to pay someone to do it for me. My budget is around $4500~$5000 including engine costs w/o labor. How much is it usually for regular maintenance for the engine?
bisimoto makes the best headers money can buy for a honda application, for the f22 they yeild like a 20 hp increase (no joke). AEM makes a decent CAI, as far as exhaust id go with a custom pipe. NA get 2.25" for turbo go 2.5". if u want your torque band to be at a lower RPM get like a twin loop muff. thats what im rollin with atm at least. but listen to nusdogg he knows whats up

Well, why would you want to do upgrades to your engine if you are going to swap it?
If you are going w/ a H22, I highly recommend a Type S. I actually did my sway and did the Type S. It comes with a LSD transmission, which is always a plus.
Currently I am running a H22 Type S with fidanza flywheel, exedy stage 1 clutch, Injen CAI, SMSP header, hi-flow cat and mugen exhaust. I am pushing 203.9 HP to the wheels on a dyna-pack dyno. This was done at Church automotive. This is even without a tune or the soon to be installed Euro-R manifold w/ 68mm TB.
I am pushing well over any base H22. I think the extra money for a Type S is worth it. Plus it comes w/ the red valve cover

If your thinking about spending that much on a header, you should get a good cam and a tune as well. Might as well get more than 20-30 hp for the $1k. I'd stick with the H swap and gain twice the Hp for about the same price.
I cant seem to find that Bisimoto produces H-series headers? I see the F/B/ and D series....
Any links? I want to see their header compared to the SMSP or RMF headers.
Sorry dont mean to thread jack...

Look in the Prelude forum, there is a great thread on there production whereabouts. Including a very lopsided dyno graph. Showing a gain of like 40whp with his header & tune. The thing is that the engine setup was not the same. The intake (ITBs) and fuel setup were also changed for the subsequent Bisi header dyno run.
Found it!
Give it a read, pop some popcorn first though

So right now, I'm deciding between a JDM H22A Type-S or USDM H22A4. I'd probably have to get an illegal smog for the jdm, but i could get the usdm bar'd. Which do you guys think I should do? and I'm planning to buy dc headers but I don't know what exhaust I should get with it so that it passes the California decibel test. my friend told me that the GReddy Evo 2 is too loud. Should I get that and put a silencer on it?

OP as for your swap info I am not up to date with the engine swap laws of California. Someone else will have to chime in on whether or not you can do an H22A Type S or not. I'm thinking that your more than likely going to have to go with the H22A4 and a 96 Prelude P13 ECU.
I see that you must have gotten sucked into a Bisi sales pitch! What happened to your h23 vtec blue top or k20/k24 swap dreams?
