ok hello honda tech this is my first post i have been into hondas and lurked the site for a year now and have had my first real issue were im clueless

ok lets start i have a 1990 civic dx with a SOHC ZC and the lazy person before me left the dpfi on it (i know been meaning to fix that)

story goes my car would randomly lose all power well driving then come back a few seconds later

so tonight i pull into the gas station fill up and go to start the car it cranks over and over again eventually somehow i get it running going down the highway it dies agian well rolling i pop it into 3rd at 100kpm (60ish mph) and it comes back to life put it in 5th life is great for a while do this a few times then it finaly just dies completly and i tow it home now im looking for some advice

i have already replaced main relay and have 2 ecu's on hand plus wires car and rotor are all brand new and i can hear the fuel pump running when i turn the key over

i guess i will check for spark and fuel in the morning (bad coil/pump) any other trouble shooting adivce would be great help!

do the lights on the dash go out like you are loosing power or does the engine just stall?

 

it just dies like its loosing either spark or fuel everything else is fine dash lights stay on

 

ok well i pulled my coil and bench tested it with the ohm meter and as far as i can tell according to my hanyes manual its toast ... no ohms across terminal A and B and a few ohms betweeb B and the post so ya ordered a new one hope that fixes it plus the coil is all cracked to **** anyways so im thinking it must be done!

 

replaced the coil and life is good she lives agian
