Default 2006 Honda Accord Car Break Problem

On my 06 Honda Accord (around 30,000 miles), I am hearing a sqeeking/metal sqeeking noise once in a while when I press on the breaks. When I am driving on the road without hitting the breaks, I can sometimes hear the sqeeking noise when driving on the freeway or road.

Since this is my first vehicle and I got no experience with the car repair centers, can someone tell me what seems to be the problem and needs to be replace/check up??? Is it the breaks or wheels?

Thanks

What you may likely be hearing is the brake pad ware indicators. They are squeeling because the pads are likely worn out and need to be changed. However without me being able to look at the car in person I can not say for sure what the issue may be. I'd suggest taking the car to the dealership or a local ASE certified mechanic.

You need to have someone check both inner and outer pad for wear like above poster, but if it only happens once an a while or only cold (certain temps) it could just be brake dust making the noise .
Which would need to be cleaned and lubed up properly, either way it needs to be checked by a mechanic .

Some call it a defect, some bitch to the dealer why it wears out so fast. I call it going cheap. Changed it on my 06 EX at about that time, and it was fine. Brake shop can do it for about $120 rear. Make sure they don't try to sell you on a job for the front. Most likely you won't need it.

Cost cutting, you got to do it somewhere. I guess I rather have it on a wear item, rather than an engine gasket.

Thanks for all who answered my question.

It was the left/right rear causing the sound. I got the replacement and everything checked up.

How much does the labor cost?

My total cost was around $150 including labor.
