What is your goal for the J30A1? All-motor, Forced Induction, etc?

While I can't say I've seen any all motor modifications, I have seen a CompTech Engineering supercharger for them.

I would tread carefully with that automatic transmission though.

Thanks for the help. I have the basics , headers, intake and I'm working on exhaust. I was just wondering if there was anything else. I have a body kit that ill go on this spring, so I guess we'll see how it goes. I was thinking of swapping it with a easier motor to work with. B18? Maybe. Any advice

Considering taking out a 3.0 and replacing it with a 1.8 motor is a terrible idea. You can find basic mods for the car. Pulleys, cams, and other upgrades. You have to decide what exactly your trying to do before we can recommend anything. Oh ya... don't plan on using that stock tranny, because you're wasting your time with it. It will pop sooner or later. You might as well start with the CL 6spd. tranny swap.

You need to do quite a bit more research before you do anything.

Even considering a B18 swap is asinine.

There are plenty of things that you can do. You can do I/H/E obviously, but you can also do J32a2 head or cam swap. There have been a few people do N/A builds on J series engines, but there are not a lot out there. You could look into punching out the internals with J37 or J35 rotating assembly. If you do a couple searches you will find the info. If none of that suits you then you could always swap the motor and trans. Just a thought.

This is probably a stupid question. But I take it most J series motors are or the most part some what interchangeable? Are the other heads an internals that hard to find? Another supid question. What type of cars do them motors come out of. I'm headed to the junk yard tomorro to see what I can find

A CL-S is what RedneckDave is referencing.

The TL-S may have it too.

So what all should I get? New head... What else, i'll check craigslist and ebay. Will it just bolt up direct or need a conversion kit?

I just looked at the average cost or the swap and it was around 4500, which is a little out of My league being only 17 do they make a shift kit for hondas? Something like they do for v8's like a ratchet shifter. Sorry I haven't been in the import cars very long, I grew up on old muscle cars

Completely unrelated to this thread and you have a 2.2 (F22B2) you can search for information on the swap

There's a supercharger, and lots of Civic/Integras are now swapping them.
