Ok buddy has a 2000 si and its still overheating after replacing waterpump and thermostat. Fan still works and holds collant untill it overheats then it comes out of the overflow tank anyone have any idea what could be the prob?

 

assuming you've bled the air out for an adequate period of time, i'd lean toward thinking its a blown headgasket.

 

Yeah did you try bleeding the coolant system?

 

compression leaking into the coolant jacket, therefore over-pressurizing the cooling system, triggering the rad cap, which in turn will make it regurgitate coolant indefinitely through the overflow...

 

A blown head gasket is a real possibility. But first replace the radiator cap and bleed the cooling system. During the bleeding procedure, regularly check whether the lower radiator hose remains cool even after the engine is hot. If so, the radiator may be clogged.

 

Ok how do you bleed the cooling system?

 

I would opt for a leakdown test.

 

This happened to me before, it was my radiator at the time. yours may be different.

 

How do you do a leakdown test?

 

you need a coolant pressure tester which is a pump that connects to your rad. then you put the system under pressure about 15 psi

 

Have you tried putting a bag of ice on top of the valve cover to help cool the engine down?

I'm thinking the radiator could be clogged, check the cap and bleed the cooling system as everyone has stated and check all that before having to pull the head off.

 

if the ride aint puffing a white smoke screen, spend 100 bucks and buy a aluminum radiator of ebay or something. that radiator is probably clogged. check spark plugs, they shouldn't be burning white, or be wet. common trouble shoot for these problems, black smoke=burning rich(gas), white smoke=burning water, gray=burning oil. end of story.

 

I have, they work good. A buddy of mine had one on his car.

 

i put one on my buddies car. solved all the over heating problems. same if not better than stock.

This procedure may take 20-30 minutes:

1) Park the car on an inclined driveway with the front end higher than the rear.

2) Push the dash heater lever/**** to MAX heat.

3) Follow the directions in the diagram below
