88 civic steering rack
i had my car at a mechanics recently and they told me that my steering rack was loose and very dangerous, part of me doesnt believe them, and the other part of me thinks that they messed it up and wont own up to it.
a new steering rack from honda is around $550, but someone near me has a 1991 civic sedan roller, and he said he would sell me the steering rack for $50 if i take it out.
i was curious, how do i check what kind of condition the steering rack is by myself (to check my own and the one on the other car before i buy it), how difficult it is to remove/install, and what tools i would need to do so.
im kinda outta money because just after buying the car i had to put in upper and lower control arms, ball joints, tie rods, and hub bearings so if i can do this on my own with the used steering rack that would be amazing.
