Default Longacre hot lap receiver, function?

http://www.pegasusautoracing.com/pro...asp?RecID=1626

This receiver above, does anyone of you know what actually happens from this unit when you pass the appropriate timing beacon?

I am looking for a unit that will momentairly send a ground pulse or some momentary action of some type when the beacon is passed so that my dash unit can interpret this in to one completed lap, and be able to display my lap time.

The software for the dash logger that I am using has a timing feature, however it needs some type of indicator input that you have completed a lap.

Sorry if this sounds confusing. Thanks!

S, I'd try contacting the company for those details. Not exactly the info you're looking for, but contact number will be here: http://www.longacreracing.com/instru...sp?INSTID=9#m4

Companies are sometimes tough to get information out of when it comes to things like that (functionality, etc). However, when time is available ill give them a buzz.

True. I'll see if anyone around here has one you could fiddle with too.

I use a Hot Lap receiver and timer display. I believe they are designed to work together as a system, and am not sure about the receiver's compatibility with other types of data acquisition. It is most likely a rising edge voltage pulse as the receiver crosses into the field of the transmitter. There is some degree of innaccuracy, as the transmitter IR field is cone shaped, and can change where the rising edge of the signal is depending on how close or far away from the transmitter you are as you cross it.

And, yes, some companies are very guarded with EXACT technical information on their products. I work in a field where we need to know things like is it a 5vdc or 12vdc rising edge, analog, PWM, etc., signal to do our job, and companies like to keep as much information proprietary as possible. If you don't get a direct answer to what signal it puts out, maybe asking them if it will work with your current system or asking what other systems it might be compatible with will ultimately get you the info you need. HTH.

Spoke with the manufacturer of my logger, and they had said that the Longacre "Hot Lap" receiver will work just fine for what I need.

Thanks for the insight, FormulaIntegra!
