Default B20/Vtec guys please chim in...

I have a B20/Vtec in my car. Its blowing smoke and oil from the breather hole on the valve cover. The Bottom end is a 96 or newer B20 so there is no pcv vent in block. What are you guys doing for a PCV systems on your B20/Vtecs?

You should try searching - there are a BUNCH of threads on this. Try "PCV" and "breather" or "catch can."

ttt guys looking for some input.

The z10 breather kit looks like its made to be used with the Port on the back of the motor. Since my bottom end it a 96 and newer that port is not there.

Heres a few different catch can/ vented valve cover setups:
https://honda-tech.com/forums/welding-fabrication-53/vented-valve-cover-post-up-some-pics-1970101/

What are the specs on the b20/vtec? Is it just a stock b20 block with a stock Vtec head...etc

Yes that is all it is. Its running on a P28. I was told that just one day it started blowing this smoke out the valve cover.

I'd start by doing a compression test before doing a catch can setup

Here is a little write up I did when I was venting the valve cover on my b20vtec. Hopefully it helps you out with part numbers if you decide to vent your valve cover.

Also, I'm using a catch can from these guys.

Did A Comp Test last night and its no good. Heres how they look:
1-100psi
2-180psi
3-180psi
4-40psi

Again there is no smoke out the rear of the car so what do you guys think?

with that kinda compression what else can it be besides rings unless valve seals can cause a compression drop either way motor needs to be rebuilt or atleast the head does if its valve seals

I was thinking that number 4 might be a bent valve. That would also explain the ton of blowby.

your ring didn't seal, or cracked ringland will cause a low compression, plus smoke coming out of holes it shouldn't be coming out of

Well the cars been sitting for 3-4 months. Do you think driving it around for a bit might seal the rings up? If thats what it is.

i doubt it, once your start a fresh motor and the rings don't seal then you basically have to re do everything.
