TL navigation woes.. Help!?
Ok I have a 05 Acura TL Ive owned it since day one and it has jus around 180k on it.. Ive never had any troubles with the display unit or navigation until now.. Its still on the old disc that came with the car..
Here is the problem:
When you turn on the car the navigation pre-screen loads up . Then it bounces over wanting the code. If you try to enter the code you can only get one number in before it freezes up. And thats after a few repeated attempts of trying to enter a number . Then it bounces back to the navi load screen only to go back to the code and it continues to do this..
I pulled the navi disc and looked it over and it looked fine.. Im going to go and disconnect the battery and leave it unplugged for a bit to see if it "resets" or something..
Other then that has anyone had or heard of this issue and a fix? Im not into electronics so I dont have the slightest clue as to if its the head unit or the disc drive.. Any help is greatly appreciated.

We had the exact same problem with the nav unit in our 05 TL. Send it to Alpine. They charge flat $158 (including return shipping) to fix the nav unit. That's a bargain.
Here's the Honda tsb. Look at page 6 for the address to send it to:

The returned it in a week or so, and it's been fine for over a year now. Here's what the work order/ receipt said. I googled the part number of that PWB Assembly they replaced. Just that component costs $951.95 if you buy it from an Alpine parts dealer. So $150 is a bargain any way you look at it, esp considering a new unit from Acura is $2-3k.
Main component replaced:
Part# 01T55533Y03 PWB ASSY NAVI (BN-M30U03)
Additional Repairs: DVD (Except Navigation), Error Code (text required)
Service Action: Mechanical, Apply Countermeasure (ATN# Req.), Disc Mechanism, Bracket
Part# 07-05603Z02 BKT, Spring Nut2, ATN-A051620

Thankyou i just started having this same problem in my 03 accord ex-l, called alpine and they were more then happy to be able to take care of it, it is a bargain. and beats having to go to a honda/acura dealership for them just to tell you its faulty so they have to send it to alpine. One of the most useful information i have ever gotten from this site. (Lost my old login, so i had to start a new username.)
