From your experience and what you've heard, what are some of the shops to get my SOHC port/polished?

 

What kind of port job do you want?? Gasket match, or get the chambers all CC'd in and stuff??? I had an engine performace/rebuilder company do mine. JUst gasket matched the ports and rounded out some areas. That with a nice milling was pretty good. Also got a valve job too. They usually charge like 400 bucks for that- which to me seems high, but I got it done for free because my bro works there. If all you want to do is gasket match- I would do it myself and save the money. Buy a die grinder and a good bit, trace the gaskets and port and polish them. When in doubt, don;t take off anymore materiel, because you want consistancy between each port. But if you're going full race, take it to the shop and have them CC the chambers and ports and make sure everything is the same accross every port and chamber. cost a lot, but you reap maximum benefits from bolt ons and internals
