Default How to replacement thermostat w/o a full colant flush...?

Hi all,

It has come to my attention that I may need to replace a thermostat that's stuck open. From what I've read so far, it's a relatively simple task, and can be done without a fully flushing the coolant. However, after a long search session, I can't seem to find a write up for this procedure.

Can anyone tell me how to go about the t-stat change if I don't want to flush the whole sytem?

Thanks,
Adrian

you'll lose some fluid once the thermostat is taken off, not sure how much. I think the coolant in the head is loss...somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

Just take the thermostat out and put the new one in. Open your radiator cap and fill it to the top. Start the car and let air bubbles shoot out if there happens to be any. Do this for about 15-20 minutes or until your temp gauge is back to normal then close the radiator cap. You will have to bleed the coolant system no water what. Air bubbles will get into your coolant system once there is a leak or in your case spill out.
