im building an ls/v and i was wondering what cams are more aggressive the 94 gsr cam or the 92-93 b17a1 gsr cams, some guy told me the b17s are but im just asking everyone for some more opinions.
Same. But why bother with those cams if you're starting from scratch -- might as well go for something more aggressive.

Aggressive means higher lift & longer duration, particularly on the secondary 'VTEC' lobe. It gives you more power and shifts the powerband up to higher rpm. ITR is more aggressive than GSR, and Skunk2 stage 2 is more aggressive than ITR.

I don't know a whole lot about LS-V conversions, but I do know you need to do more than just slap a VTEC head onto a stock LS shortblock and expect to have any kind of reliability at all. You'll need to put in new rod bolts, for example, and putting in higher comp. pistons would be a really good idea if you want to get anything out an all-motor LS-V build.
You can consider the rod bolts to be necessary, because the LS rod bolts WILL fail. Not sure of the time frame, but I think it can happen in just a few months. If you just use a bone stock B18B short block and put on a VTEC head with GSR cams, you'll have an engine that's about as powerful as a stock GS-R but far less reliable.
Considering that new rod bolts are a necessity, adding a couple hundred dollars for new pistons makes a lot of sense. For one thing, the LS pistons aren't very good. For another, the compression boost from ~10 or 10.2:1 to >11:1 will make it easy to run a stronger cam. Since cams are all roughly the same price and springs and retainers are cheap, investing a few hundred dollars in pistons, springs, and retainers will get you from 160 whp (10.2 with GSR cams) to 220 whp (11.5:1 with S2P2) for less than the cost of a cheap header.
I don't want to tell you what to do, but I believe that cheaping out on LS-V will come back to haunt you later. Just something to think about.
