Default What is a "vapor lock"??

Got a 2000 accord F23A1 in it. Whenever i fill my car up with gas, it will randomly shut off while driving. Its always after i get gas, im just driving around or coming to a stop it will just cut off. VERY ANNOYING

Took it to the dealer and they said it was a vapor lock. Can anyone explain to me what this is??? and how it works??? I already took it to them several months ago for the same thing and they said they fixed it but they never did. Now they are saying the same thing...

Is this really a vapor lock? or is there somehting else that might be going on?

If your problem is vapor lock then you can try to remove the excess water by doing a seafoam treatment to your intake as well as your gas tank. Buy a can and "inject" it into your intake while the car is running through a medium size vacuum line. Don't do it all at once but a little bit at a time while keeping the car at 3000 rpm or it will stall. Your car will smoke like crazy so be ready for it. Do only half the can for the intake and the other half just put it in the gas tank. Hope this helps.

scratch that.... this is only useful when you have too much water vapor in the gas tank or intake. Got "vapor lock" mixed up with something else.

If you haven't solved this yet, check recalls on your Honda-- my 98 Accord was dying at random times, very scary on freeways-- turned out there was a recall on the ignition module that the previous owner had ignored. Dealer replaced it, has run fine since.
