Icon3 need help!

last night i ran over a huge rock at the asuza mountains and it made a hole in my oil pan...the oil light went on so i pulled over to check the car...turns out that rock made a whole the size of a quarter on the pan.
i tried starting the car and it didnt start till the 3rd try...i turned around and ran the car for like 2 minutes then it shut off on its own...the battery light went on the brake pedal locked so i pulled over and the car wouldnt crank anymore...i want to know if i blew my motor or what?!?!?! people are telling me the sensor on the car just shut off the motor since it has no oil..they said it does that for safety so your motor wont go...anyone know if thats true??? its a 90 crx si with an ls vtec swap.

if the car turned off by itself its a done deal.

usually when the oil pressure light turns on, its already too late.
