EF Fender Braces.............anyone interested???
I have been looking online for fender braces for EF's and have come up with nothing. So I'm down to 2 options.
1 - Someone give me a link to a place that sells them for EF's
2 - Since I have the front end of my CR-X apart, take some measurements, draw up a few diagrams on the computer, and have my brother machine all the parts and get them welded by a guy at his work who can weld 10000000000000000 times better than I can, lol.
Just wondering if anyone would be interested in possibly owning a set of these. If so I will order the material and start production on them. If not I will find some scrap material and just make a set for myself. I'm gonna be doing that no matter what and when I get a pic of the finished product I'll post it up so you can see how it would look, bolt on, ect. Again, just seeing if there would be an interest in these. I don't need any commitment from anyone on buying these but if you think you might be interested in them, just let me know and I'll see what I can come up with.
And to the Mods, this will not be a FS thread. If enough interest is shown I will give details and specs on everything that is made so it will be technical and then I will do a separate F/S thread if enough interest is given.
Thanks everyone and please voice your opinion on this idea.

not too bad. not trying to undermine anyone elses cost but I believe I could have mine produced for less than that.

And to anyone who might want to see examples of my brother's machining abilities, here are a few examples of his work.
subframe spacers for a motor swap we are doing

drift buttons
this is just taking aspects from different designs and combining the best qualities of them.
this aftermarket one kept getting stuck in the end of the parking brake handle because up the curved design of the top of the button.

this aftermarket one didn't get stuck, but had a sharp edge on the head that just felt odd.

here is my brother's design. doesn't get stuck, and no sharp edge on the head.

the 3 next to each other

and here is a one off he did for a guy who wanted a "wood screw" design one. believe it or not the screw style head was quite difficult to get correct.

here is one of his more difficult parts he as machined. they are caliper brackets for an AE86 corolla to put RX-7 4 piston calipers on the corolla.
from start to finish

also you can't tell but he had to machine the rotors as well. using this kit requires using mini cooper 11.8" rotors. he just had to redrill the bolt pattern and I think maybe make a 45 degree chamfer on the ID of the rotor.
comments on his work
from someone who bought his brake kit :
"Well, after a few days of nice, dry weather, all i can say is WOW. pedal is nice and firm, and it stops on a dime! again, no track testing as of yet (that'll come in a few months), but overall for the price, i think this is one of the best mods to my car so far (its not all about going fast!). cant thank aaron enough for his time building the brackets, sourcing all the parts, and especially for helping me install the brake kit.
We will be going down to Houston this weekend for the big get together, and i'll let Aaron drive my car a bit in the dry so he can make his own impressions of this kit.
buy his kit so he can get his rola running again!"
The one off wood screw drift button :
"it's even better in person.
it's appropriate on so many levels with one being that you screw it on to begin with.
i love that it has the right amount of threading: it can't be screwed in too far to inadvertently engage the ebrake. i always had to unscrew my T3 button to keep it where it didn't do that.
thanks for the surprise birthday gift aaron. again, great job on it."

depends, most of the stuff he has done has been on his own spare time so he just charges a flat price for the parts he makes. One part he did make that was someone else's design, they agreed on a price per part and however quickly or slowly he could do the parts it didn't matter. he just did a set price on the parts themselves. I guess all in all it would depend on the part itself. if it was something that could be done quickly after setting everything up, I think he would just charge a price per part. if it was something that would take a long time no matter how well the setup process was, he would probably charge hourly.

I don't think that there would be enough of a profit margin for these. I think if you are going to r&d something make it worth the time. Id like to see the EP3/RSX rear caliper bracket reproduced to be able to use 10.3" rear discs with DA rear calipers this way you have a bigger pad but won't have a bigger piston this way the rear will not lock up as easily as if it were to have the larger rear caliper.
Unfortunately this does break the rules. I know you have good intentions but in order to sell product like that on this website you would need to be a sponsor and post this in the sponsor section. Sorry but this has to be locked.
