new member. buying a gsr integra
Hello all. I'm currently in the process of purchasing a 91 integra ls with a gsr in it. This will be my first import, so I'm a little cautious about it. I don't know anything about imports. I've got a few questions. I went and rode with the guy last night; it seems to run fine. However, I texted him today to start finalizing the purchase, and he informed me it wouldn't be coming with the ecu that's in it. He said "it's still a pr3, but it's just that it idles at 1200." So... what should I make of this? Obviously, there's something wrong with this ecu.
nice a 93 gs-r, that is a very rare engine, one of the best b-series ever, $2,750, hmmm, idles at 1200, no original ecu, whats conditon of the car. what else does it come with. see an original 92-93 gs-r goes for around $3,000-4,500, I got my 92 gs-r all stock clean title for 2,200 running but leaking hella oil from the v-tec solenold, that was only problem, but sold it. but very lucky to find one that cheap. I say with gs-r and clean title, and clean body, $2500, or gs-r, non clean title and pos body, 1800, i don't know, gotta see it
Everything I know:
91 integra.
Gsr motor.
LSD trans.
Vtec hits at like 4.4
New axles.
fully ported intake manifold.
70mm throttle body.
Short throw shifter.
DC header.
Toki-something blues, I think he said. Skunk springs.
New brakes, clutch, front tires, battery.
Clean interior.
big dent on d-side quarter. Clear slightly coming off roof. Body otherwise clean.
I asked about keeping the ecu and he said it's a friends that doesn't want to sell it.

Also, being unfamiliar with imports in general, and integras specifically, what are they notorious for? What's prone to failure? Also, what is recommended to improve that horrendous beam pattern of the headlights?

Check the basics, also if you have access to a compression tester, it wouldn't be a bad idea to test that as well before you buy it.
