Default z6 mini me quick qustion.. please help

ok what im doing is getting a full swap from a crx si included wiring/ecu. and taking out everything involved with my d15b2.. and putting that d16a6 in my car and adding a z6 head and could i keep the stock si ecu and wiring harness and run the vtec setup off of it (or would i need a p28 ecu and the wiring that goes with that ecu on z6 head? or no).. So could i use the si wiring harness and ecu with adding the z6 stuff and be ok or not. I would like to know, and also with this dpfi to mpfi thing also. or do i not have to worry bout this since im swaping everything out?.. also would i need to convert to obd1? and what would i need? once i get this cleared up i can start my collecting of goodies! please help me.. thanks everyone

i'm assuming your car is a DX considering the d15b. that being assumed, no, you can't use either harness to just "put it on your engine". you need to first modify both your d15 engine harness and under dash/chassis harness from dpfi to mpfi. good thing is that you can use the Si wiring harness for all the wiring you need to convert the engine harness. and while you are at it you need to add the wires for vtec. then depending on what you want to do, you can either convert to obd1 and use the p28, or keep it obd0 and find an obd0 b16a ecu.

he already has to convert a bunch of wiring. adding a couple of more wires to run vtec off the ecu like it is meant to wouldn't be too much more work considering what will already be needed.

Convert your DX DPFI harness that was in the car to MPFI and OBD1. I just did it this weekend and it was pretty easy. There are a couple of good write ups in the FAQs. I just printed them out and brought them out in the garage with me to follow. I had a guy that has done a bunch of these look at it and he said it looked good. This was the first time I did any wiring like this and it not bad at all. I am swapping a Z6 motor in my Civic Wagon and the car will run a lot better OBD1 with a P28 ECU.

but i will hava a full a6 swap, wires, ecu and tranny. Im taking everything d15b2 wise out and putting all the a6 stuff in.. my question is if i keep the a6 block and put a z6 head on it (intake manifold etc..) it do i need to get the ecu that runs the z6 and the wiring harness that goes with it as well? and if i get all that, then what will i need? because the wiring and the ecu from the z6 is obd1 so i would just hook all that up to the motor?

and the manifold from the z6 assembly is mpfi so it should work with the wiring harness and ecu right? plus it supports the vtec. i would need to get a controller or something..

okay man, the A6 and Z6 wiring harness DO NOT MATCH UP TO YOUR CHASSIS HARNESS. The connectors are different. therefore it is EASIER TO CONVERT YOUR D15 HARNESS to mpfi. you could convert either the d16 harness or the z6 harness, but it is A LOT MORE WORK.

if you would read this post of mine more thouroghly, it would give you the answers you are looking for.

So if you have reread that carefully, you will see that NO, you DO NOT have to run the P28 ecu. If you want to stay obd0, all you need is to run an obd0 b16 ecu or get a vtec controller as mentioned by xPeter Griffinx.

Again, and I can not stress this enough, you can not simply just connect either the A6 harness or Z6 harness to the motor and have it work. Reason being besides the connectors not matching, is because the engine harness does not connect directly to the ecu. It connects to the chassis harness and the chassis harness goes to the ecu. Your chassis harness is expecting to send the signals needed from the ecu for the dpfi setup. therefore connecting a harness that is mpfi where the wires are not in the same location to the chassis harness, and then connecting the dpfi chassis harness to a mpfi ecu, where the signals being sent are in different locations, WILL NOT WORK.

So for hopefully the last time, convert your factory chassis harness and engine harness from dpfi to mpfi, convert to obd1 if you WANT TO and add the wires for VTEC.

ok so with a full a6 swap being put in the car i use the si wire harness to combine with my chasis harness. and I think I will just keep it obd0 and find a a b16 obd0 ecu. so with the dpfi to mpfi done... what all wiring or stuff would I need for vtec? and I need a z6 dizzy along with the complete head correct?
