Ordering suspension parts. What all to get.
Hey all I am going to be ordering some tokico illuminas and GC coilovers I think. Looking to spend 600-700 on that part. Then what else should I be ordering with this? It is my DD but I don't mind a rough ride. And I want something that is gonna handle great.
The car is a pretty high mileage DA. What else should I order to put on was thinking all new bushings, sway bars, what else would be good to add while I am doing work to the suspension. I am uninformed with hondas so just looking for suspension tips here.

i also would prefer the koni sport over the illumina but the illumina is a good shock if you're bent on tokico. the really important question is what rates you order with the GC combo. the sway bars can help but you could have a similar effect just using more spring. don't get the off the shelf rates if you're after performance. somewhere in the 400/400 range would work with stock bars. a larger rear bar might go 400/350 unless you really want fast rear rotation. these are also just ballpark rates since i don't know anything about how you drive, how much power you have or what tires and brakes you use.

My old hatch was on GC with koni blues, but the kid i got it from had it slammed on the koni blues and it bounced like a ****.
Until I am done with brakes and trading these 17's i got for some nice 14-15s I will not be taking the car too hard til it is fully ready for it.
koni didn't make a blue shock but tokico does and they tend to bounce sense rebound is non existent. street konis are either yellow, red, or orange.
i can tell you a fast combo that's fairly cheap to setup. get the koni sports with either 450/450 ground controls if you keep the stock sways or 450/400 if you get a big rear bar. next get a light 15x7, maybe those $89 specials that weight 12.8lbs from tire rack, wrap them in a nice tire, kumho xs maybe. inexpensive and sticky. pad wise there are a few choices and none are ebc. the hawk hp+ and axxis ultimate are both great street/track pads
you can get the koni gc from thmotorsports.com for $799 shipped
the worst part about 17s now is the lack of really good tires in 205 40 17. last year i ran a set of rays 17s for awhile. after burning up a set of BFG KD's i couldn't find **** for tires unless they were either total junk or expensive. the yoke s dive is probably one of the better and it's hard with a 300 utqg
i should mention that i have a very narrow view of street tires. they are basically kumho xs, dunlop star specs, yoke advans ad07, ad08, bridgestone 11s etc. you get the general idea.

I'm running the progress cs-2 coilovers 350/350 rates with stock 22mm front sway bar and 22mm itr sway bar in the back. If your open to suspension setups look into the progress coilovers. Everyone has great things to say about them and they are cheaper then koni/gc

The S.Drives are a great tire for their class. I love them because they handle well and can be driven quickly (for what they are) IF you know how to drive. They show you all of your mistakes but are forgiving. The AD08's are God's gift to street tires, but not good to start out with. Techniques needs to be honed before being able to use them to their fullest.
OP, you should strongly consider Koni. Tokico doesn't even compare in shock dyno tests (or butt dyno tests).
I also agree with a set of 15x7. Dunlop just released new sizes for the Z1 Star Specs btw, including a 205/50/15
