Icon6 Swapping regular with VTEC engines

Hi, I got a Honda Accord 1996 and I feel like I will have to swap the engine on it. I have VTEC right now.
I couldn't find any information if I can get a regular 2.2L engine and connect VTEC from my engine to it. Will that work? And also, does it have to be 1996 only or some others might fit too?

what you have in your car is f22b1 engine. the 2.2l vtec version. you can use the f22b1 from a 96 or 97 as they are obd-2. the f22b1 from a 94 or 95 would work but a lot of wiring is required because that engine and the wiring harness (as well as ecu) is obd-1.

sure it can

you want the obd-2 one though (for less wiring). and if you stick with obd2 it is not much wiring. use the search function, and you will find countless threads on the swap.

any issue with swapping in a 99 accord vtec motor into a 97 chasis? it's still obd2 right? same wiring harness pretty much?

99 Accord F23A1 VTEC motor will work except that the IACV is different, so you'll need a IACV adapter plate to retain your 2-wire IACV. B1 & B2 engines have different IM compare to F23A.

Which one? F23A1 with ULEV or w/o ULEV? Does it make any difference?

F23A1 is not a ULEV. That would be an F23A4 that is the ULEV.

Got it... Thanks.
I guess the next question would be if I will need to change anything else to make it work (except IACV adapter)? Is it gonna go together with my transmission etc?
