so i have a 1998 coupe civic w/ a d16y8 engine what can i do to make its fast while spending the least amount of money possible

Put some huge flame sticker on the side. It adds 20+ hp. And don't forget to add DOHC stickers on the side.

basic bolt ons will give you a little bit of power but go with the turbo if you wanna get down to business lol

Tuning doesn't have to be expensive. A Moates Ostrich, chipping kit and someone with some knowledge and a wide band could do it. $170 for the Ostrich, $12 for chipping the ECU, and find out what someone would charge to do a street tune.

Look into tar and nitrous rocket engines. The tar is the fuel and nitrous is the oxidizer. Cheap and looks pretty easy to make...

 

It depends on how much money you want to spend honestly. Going turbo is going to be expensive to do it right, I would recommend you getting a jdm b16a swap and having fun with it. It will be a night and day comparison.
