Hiya,
She is idling at 2000 when warmed up, driving seems fine, just when stopped at lights and the like. Shes a DC1 INtegra 1998 straight 1592cc.
I am told it is either 1 of 3 things - the TPS, the IACV, the MAP or a combination.
Interestingly I could not find the IACV, this is usually onto the side of the Intake Manifold behind the Throttle Body facing back toward the Firewall - no sign of it.
The car initially started a regular revving from 1000 to 2000 and back when idling or stopped at the lights.
After cleaning the Throttle Body it is now settled at 2000 revs consistently when idling or stopped. While driving it goes fine, this only happens when idling.
All along the CEL ( Check Engine Light ) Light stays lighting when car in motion.
I pulled out the two pin data lead under the passenger glove compartment, used a paper clip to cross the two pins, turned the ignition to ON ( not the engine ) and recorded the error codes flashed out by the CEL on the dash.
I have 3 errors -
- problems with the IACV ( which I cannot find )
- the TPS ( Throttle Positions sensor ) mounted at the firewall side of the throttle body itself
- the MAP Sensor ( Mass Airflow Sensor ) on top of the throttle Body.
I tried to "reset" the TPS using a multimeter ( throttle closed should be registering 0.5v, fully open 4.5v ) - no joy either, kept registering 0.0v regardless.
I am coming to the conclusion I need a whole new throttle body and/or new MAP and TPS to solve this issue.
Any further wisdom to solve this appreciated ..

First of all, to anyone saying anything like "OMGZORZZZ a SOHC Integra WTFuxxors" will get their post deleted. Yes it's a SOHC Integra. Yes it's a DC1. Yes they were sold elsewhere, just not in the US.
Now, what you're describing with the TPS reading 0 volts definitely sounds like a problem there. Have you tried unplugging any of the sensors you mentioned while the engine idles? If you unplug one and there's no change, then that one is most likely at fault.
BTW MAP means Manifold Air Pressure sensor, which reads the amount of vacuum in the manifold (which is why Hondas need a little help when going boost). There is no mass air flow sensor on these cars. Just to be clear.

Hi patrick,
Great help this. Sorry re the MAS / MAP thing. I stand corrected.
This unplugging thing I should have thought of:
- I unplugged the MAP, the cars rev's dropped way down
- I unplugged the TPS - NOTHING, re plugged it in
- I unplugged the IACV - NOTHING, re plugged it in
I cleaned the IAVC earlier today having finally found it. Turns out it was right under the THROTTLE BODY - screwed on underneath.
I assume from above it is a duff TPS and IACV??
The TPS is giving me a 0.00 but on and off a -0.00 ..
Again thanks for the help, another nuggets appreciated
