Default Need help getting more low end power. Lsvtec Ek!

I got a 00 Ek with Jdm b18b bottom and 00 Si head. Head was port and polished with supertech valve springs, valves and retainers. I have itr replica headers with 2.5 inch catback. Gsr tranny stage 2 clutch and 7.5 lb flywheel. Walbro 255, rc 310. Aem fuel rail and fpr.

Anyway, my low end sucks terribly.
What can I get to help that?
I'm throwing around an aebs intake manifold, but will that help my low end
I'm also getting new cams but I just need that low end... Once I hit vtec I'm good..

honda b18 all motor = weak low end

if you want to feel more torque best thing to do is put a b16 tranny in or something. I think most intake manifolds lose some low end and give it back you on the top end. I doubt you'll ever build some seriously impressive torque with an all motor 1.8 though unless you car weights 1500lbs or something

nitrous and turbo make good torque though...

It's lsvtec. B16 head, not straight ls. I've seen plenty of b series with a good power curve all the way. Probably gsr for a few weeks. Than ctr or itr

What cams are you running right now? If they're b16s, its no wonder your low-end is weak.

Also, how is it tuned?

Yeah theyre 00 Si cams I believe. It's a chipped ecu for my setup.

So you have less compression than the stock B18b, b16a stock cams and an untuned, chipped ecu and you don't know why you're lacking low end power?

Actually I have higher compression than the stock. And I'm not tuning to get the exact same results as my chip. Well. It's tuned and chipped but not dynoed.. My bad.

at best you'd have the same or barely higher than stock compression with your combination but less than the head and cams are use to working with to make power.

I think you need to get tuned. Your chipped ECU is most likely not at the optimum setup for your current engine. A properly tuned car even if it's just the B18C will also have some significant useable low to midrange power.

Get a cam with a decent mid-range. BC3+ or similar.

Would ctr cams be suitable? And would I Gain anything from an aebs
manifold

You say low end, what rpm range?
It has been tuned, but no dyno. Is your tune good for low end? Some tuners don't even do much tuning in that rpm range.
You are also running stock cams. Why would you change the manifold before the cams?
And yes the ITR cams would help you as well as the BC3+ cams.
If you are serious about the manifold change I would also look at the Performer X manifold.

It's normally first And second gear. Off the line it's slow - until 5k when
vtec kicks in. Then in 2nd it's slow again until 5k, which is usually only a couple hundred rpm. But Its the pre 500 rpm range

Well there not much that can be said, your not optimising your setup. If it hasn't been on a dyno then you really have no idea what your changes are doing. And there no way he tuned ignition on the street. That right there tells you to get it tuned.

Also as said before you really don't have enough compression to make the most out of your setup, some better cams even gsr's will help you out here.

But listen the the more experienced guys in this thread that have already mentioned why your having issues.

So on the topic of ignition. Would an msd ignition setup help?

Yes, agreed. Any changes to your ignition system are not going to give you more low end torque. Spend your money elsewhere.

bump up the compression and throw in some cams..
you will gain some power.

you compression is around 9:6.1 with b16 cams the most that motor should make is 150-160 whp and maybe 118-120 tq higher compression pistons, better cams, the aebs mani will actually lose a lil low end stick with the oem b16 mani unless you get cams that make power higher in the rpm range the set up your running now is basically a gsr with maybe 2-4 more ft lbs of tq need more compressions and cams for sure

This may actually lose some low end torque because lower dynamic compression at low rpm. Really the most effective way to increase low end torque would be to increase the stroke.
