What would be the difference between shifting a short shifter regularly and banging the gears with a stock shifter?

not sure what you mean. i picked up a car with trans issues.
changed cluth and trans. new clutch and jdm transplant.
not a track star or on auto cross. just want the car to last. id like to get on it when i want to/can. but then again, 30 points in license will keep me on slower side.
anyway, i bought a car that was worked a bit, but beat. trans wise anyway.
me, i liked the way the short throw feels compared to oem.
but if putting one in now, will cost me another 1500 later, think ill keep oem

Why would a short shifter wreck a transmission?

again, not sure.
what mechanic said. they build alot of fast/race cars.
they said they all run oem shifters because short throw shifters damage trans??

Bullsh*t.

It all depents on the person who is shifting.

If you don't give the synchro's the time to do their work you could wreck them.

thats kinda what i thought.
then again, dude said that cheaper aftermarket parts will do damage, but a bettter built b&m shifter would work fine??
so 60 dollars shifters are garbage but the 160dollar one is fine??

like i said, i bout a car with trans/clutch issues..
dude took out short shifter and nothing changed, issues where still there.
now i have a jdm gsr w/lsd. and new clutch. i like the feel of short throw
but dont wanna take the chance of doing damage to the new parts.

Why not a OEM jdm itr shifter?

I have it in my car, I like the shorter throw.

Can't go wrong with oem.

I would have more confidence in a shifter with proper r&d like oem or skunk2 double bend.

I have tried an ebay short shifter in my previous car, didn't align properly, flew out of 2nd gear while taking a turn.

if the shifter isnt aligning properly then obviously thers gna be probs, but jus because the distance is now shorter for u to changes gears doesnt mean the that the gears in the box are shorter

i know that. dont expect actual shorter gears. i just like the feel of the short throw.

as for itr shifter, never thought about it. then again, never felt the throw, to be able to compare difference.

dudes at shop all run oem shifters.

guess ill leave my oem one on and when i have change to waste, ill buy a b&m and hope no damage comes from it.
