Default Lightened flywheel...lightened pressure plate?

With all the discussion about installing aluminum and chromoly flywheels to reduce rotational mass, it makes me wonder if some aftermarket pressure plates are lighter than others? Is is possible to manufacture a lightweight pressure plate without sacrificing strength?

I think the only one I currently know about is one from Centerforce....But they don't offer it for the "small cars"

and only have it for JZA80 and FD3S and cars of that caliber.

You can always buy the crazy clutches from cusco the super single and all that other stuff that will break your leg to drive.

What is it? 8kg for flywheel, PP and disc?

Cusco/OS Giken Supa Single:

It's not so bad once you get used to it; I kinda like the stiff pedal

Total weight (pressure plate, clutch disc and flywheel): 18.8lbs

I suspect that there is not much weight to be lost from a pressure plate. For example, the super stiff Maxx Xtreme pressure plate is only 8oz heavier than the stock R pressure plate (9lbs 13oz vs 9lbs 5oz).

8kg for flywheel, pressure plate and disc is not that hard to manage - my Comptech aluminum flywheel, Clutchnet disc, and Maxx Xtreme pressure plate weight just under 8kg (17.6 lbs).

Thanks for everyone's responses. At 3am I lose sleep thinking about stupid things like lightened pressure plates.

B2finity - I've been buried at work for the past few months, so I haven't been around here much lately. Still, I'm too much of a H-T hoe to stay away for too long. Good to see you too.
