BLAH! Tips on installing cat back?
Hey guys! I have been searching for the past couple of days trying to think of ways to get the three stupid bolts off the cat. Basically, the b-section of my stock exhaust is completely rusted, with hole etc in it, so I am trying to replace it with an aftermarket one just to pass emissions. I blasted the bolts with pb blaster a few times with no luck. I went at one of the nuts with a harbor frieght dremal variant, after about an hour....I got half way through one of them. Does anyone have any other ideas rather then taking it to a shop? I was thinking about picking up a sawzal and cutting flush with the cat flang, but i read that the studs are welded to the cat flang? Thanks for any tips guys!
it might be easier to drop the entire exhaust (if you haven't done it), use a grinder with a cutoff wheel and drill holes in the flange and use some new bolts and lock nuts
Put the car on a lift, get a torch, heat the bolts/nuts up until they are red and knock them out with a hammer. Replace bolts/nuts with new ones.
hey guys, thanks for the tips, i dropped the whole exhaust and cut the bolts off, now....what should i use to drill new holes? I was trying to use an electric drill, but didn't seem to do much, anyone have tips on the type of bit i should buy? thanks guys!!!
