Default Transmission Fluid

Well its about time to change my transmission fluid. Was wondering what everyone is using in there tranny?. Was reading that Redline MTL has many benefits but was bad for the trans. But never got a clear answer from a vaileable source at least.

If you run stock LSD, just go with Honda MTL. There's really nothing you can gain by going with other aftermarket brands.

Isn't the GM syncromesh suppose to be superior when compared to the OEM honda stuff?

Some people refer to it as "Jesus Fluid" cause it can supposedly cure small grinds. I use it and it is AWESOME!! Silky smooth.

I cured the grinds in my Prelude tranny. It also smoothed the shifts in my ITR.

NOT JUST GM Syncromesh. You must use the FRICTION MODIFIED version. It is about 15$ a quart. Yes it cures syncro-grinds, shift like butta.

For a daily/street-driven car, its hard to argue with Honda MTF.

Use Honda MTF... it is superior to GM synchro mesh!

I would also reccomend Amsoil MTF if you want to spend the money.

That's right, the gears will be so smooth but not so good for the bearings!!

Do you have experience with amsoil MTF syncromesh with the stock LSD in the transmission ?

On their site it states "not for LSD equipped transmissions" .

I have always used the Honda stuff but tried some Torco MTF since I was making an order for some oil, and took the car for a spin today. Seemed a little harder going into the gears. I'm going to drive it around a little more and if it doesn't improve I'll be swapping it out with the Honda stuff before Expo.

Any more information on how the GM syncro mesh is bad for the trans in the long run?

Information on this? What bearings are you referring to? I do agree with all side of recommendations but making such a claim with just a comment of "bad for bearings" is not very helpful.

Yes. That isn't the first time I heard that about GM syncro mesh. I just never gotten around to really taking the time to research it. So I ended up using Honda MTF.
