Default how to install auto meter temp gauge

okay i have a 96 coupe i jus swaped a gsr in it and i was wondering if i could just install my auto meter temp sending unit were my stock one is or does the stock temp unit give a singnal to theecu has anyone done this i couldreally use any help thank you in advance

Leave the stock one in place and install the aftermarket on to a spliter on your coolant hose line.

( or you can tap the block , but you would need to do a flush or tap near thermostat )

also i have one more question does it matter were i put the splitter at and does it matter which hose i put it at should i put it close to the block

I would use the bottom hose as it feeds the motor with the fresh/cooled coolant and there is always flow.

The top rad hose gets coolant when the thermostat is open.



Cliff notes: Use bottom hose in my opinion.
