how to ID a ITR head?
buying an ITR head. any castings that will show thats its an ITR and not a B16..?? i know where the year marking is....so if its a 95 and lower its a b16. but if its a 96 to 98, 00-01 it could be....
any diffrent casting in a 96-97 itr head and a 98,00-01 itr head? i know the cams got changed do they still got the bigger throat opening (.010 as per omin vid) in the valve?

Well, to tell you the truth, this is how I identify and R head. You need to look into the INTAKE side ports. Right at the throat of the port, it should be mildly ported. Nothing big, but you can see the difference. Intake valves have recuded stem diameters compared to other B heads. Its noticeable, take a look. If the head hasn't been washed/tank then it should have GREEN paint on the edge where the dist bolts up. It will be stamped "P30" on that side also. The casting marks are usually "PR3-3".. I think I recall reading there are some "PR3-2" castings also. Check the year of the head. Obviously if its dated "89" then it can't be an ITR head. Check for dual springs on both the intake and the exhaust side. I seem to recall the colors yellow and light blue for the paint markings on the springs... but sometimes its very difficult to see with oil. Hope this helps.
I just did some research on it myself.. Looks like the "PR3-3" casting isn't a sure thing. About the only thing you can be 100% on is looking for the "port work" on the intake side and the green paint. The green paint is 100% if it hasn't been washed off... the portwork is obvious also.
