Default question about mantainance lite on late model accord...

my moms 09 accord's mantainance light has come on. on the speedometer it reads "oil life 15%" for the last month. oil has recently been changed so that is false. the light can be reset with the trip reset but it will come back on after shutting off and restarting the engine. is there a way to reset this light and was there suppose to be some procedure to let the ecu know when it has fresh oil? i dont know. i'm just going from what i know about civics and integras. these new cars are too high tech for me.

The instructions are in the owner's manual. You need to press the select/reset **** for around 10 seconds until the oil life indicator and code blinks, then press another 5 seconds until it resets to 100%.

Press the select/reset know until the oil life is shown. Once it is shown, then hold the **** down for 10 seconds.
