no seats will bold in, i had this problem putting my race seats in my 89 hatch. the seats and rails were from a 91. in 1990 the laws changed how seat belts had to be mounted or something so they had to start mounting seats differently... so yeah the only thing that will bolt in your 89 hatch is...88-89 hatch seats. anything else ur gonna have to make places to extend so you can bolt em up. i did it in my hatch in an afternoon
Disclaimer: Deetz is from Canada - things are bit different there. Alfie, If you can get those 89 Si's - get them! They are not as easy to find anymore in my opinion. And you are correct on 89 to 90-91 Si pan swap as well. Here, take a look at this:

lol I was just about to start talking about an 89 CRX when I remembered this is a Hatch.
I think that's what Deetz did aswell.
89 Crx's can bolt in 90-91 seats without swaps..
Hatchbacks?? I guess you do the swap ^^^^^

no they wont, i did this also. in 90 the body changed slightly(honda made it longer) so the seat bolts in diffrent spots
Unless it is an HF CR-X. I have had 2 89 CR-X HF's and put 90-91 seats in both of them and had to do a seat pan swap. Just an FYI, lol. And sorry I know it's not 100% on topic but thought it might have some relevance none the less, lol.
Get seats from your year(88-89). I have JDM CR-X SiR seats in my 90 hatch. I had to relocate, weld the pivot hinge in my 90(usdm) pan in order to make those seats fit. A little cutting and welding. Acutally it was pretty easy. In fact it was almost like the example above. Nice write up by the way.
on the hatch backs, the 88-89 seats had the same pans, and the 90-91 seats had the same pans, but to put 90-91 seats in an 88-89 style hatch properly you have to perform a seat pan swap. i believe this had something to do with the seat belts being on the door vs. on the pillar.
as far as our crx's i think our 88 model was the odd duck and had a different pan set up compared to 89-91, but don't quote me on that as i don't own a crx and am only basing it on a guess. i DO know, however, that the 88 crx pans are different from the 90-91 style seat pans. just not sure about the 89 seats.
