Strange overheating problem a 98 Civic Ex
Hey there
My girlfriend and I just bought a 98 Civic 4dr from a used car lot and during the test drive everything was A OK.
Bout 10 mins after we officially bought the car and were on the road, I noticed the temperature going past the midway mark and nearly to the red, I would said about 80% of the way there.
But this would only occur after the we start accelerating after coming to a stop at a stoplight or whatever. After driving a bit the temperature would return to normal levels around 40-50% mark, but it would begin to rise again after coming to a stop.
We brought the car back to the dealership right away and they said they would fix the car.
But what I want to know is what would cause it.
My guesses would be a bubble in the coolant line, the 'saucer' in the coolant not opening or closing, and extreme case the head gasket?
BTW, I checked the fluid in the reservoir and it was full. Car has 180k on it
Thanks ahead

yeah, well another thing is:
i would rather just have my money back, is it possible? the dealer was more into fixing it (of course)
yeah like i said it only happens during those situations, not constant

u should have like a certian period to get ur money back. but to be honest it could be ahead gasket or cracked head. i had a d15b8 that would do that and it had a blown head gasket, easy change
yeah the dealer has the car now, he wont be able to have it checked out til monday though, he said he would pay for repairs though
i would rather just have the money back
this was in Oregon, dono if that matters
this is for my girlfriend i dont want any issues with it thats all, routine maintenance is fine but not something like this.

all u can do is just talk to them about it like first thing monday. maybe they will be cool and just let u get the money back. i have never bought a car from a dealer lol
