1998 Civic EX is over heating
Hey my 98 civic ex is over heating showing opn the temp gauage, normally when I drive my car hard or when I drive normal for about 40 minutes.
It goes pass half way then almost reaches the redlie on the temp gauage.
Coolant is between min and max.
I check the upper and lower hose and they ae warm/hot at normal temp.
I also did a coolant flush not more than a year ago.
what do u guys think can be the problem?
I was thinking the thermostat but I dont know

I really havent drievn it long so I dont think th fan would turn on yet. It noramly turns on when I drive a long trip like 2 hours.
How can u make sure its the headgasket? doing a oil change and check for coolent?

Start by replacing the inexpensive thermostat and then bleeding the cooling system. If the fan still does not run when the temp gauge reads 1/2 or more, then unplug the fan switch on the thermostat housing and jump the 2P connector with a wire or paper clip. If the fan now runs, replace the switch.
