Default CV Axles..?

d15 with auto tranny... started to do just a reg auto to auto swap and I get it started and i cant get the freakin cv axles out. The 32mm nut that you take off wouldnt budge. Broke a breaker bar and a my ghetto rigged breaker bar (heavy duty socket in a metal pole ) and broke that aswell.. is there some trick to take them out or was i doing it wrong? thats how the book says to do it.. Its to late now for me to do it because im taking it to the mechanic now because i need it done sence its my daily driver.

Also does anyone know a good front lip and bumper to swap onto a 88 hb dx? I really like a lip off a 90 sedan but idk if it will fit?

Thanks let me know

I assume that you hammered out the indent on the nut right? did you try any penetrating lube?

Indented or not, a good impact breaks the nut loose everytime. I have a problem sometimes at home, but at the shop wit our bigger compressor, its never an issue. Some shops will break it loose for you for a couple bucks then snug it back on so u can get home.

YEA did you pry the lil bent part of the nut outta the groove in the axle threads? soo you broke a breaker bar? try having someone step on the brakes and slip a cheater pipe over a 3/4 ratchet. thats how i got mine off. axle nuts are almost as bad as crank pulley bolts

You can use a cutting wheel and just cut it off (if you are using other axles).

Or...Spray it with penetration fluid and let it sit...add some and let it sit. Do you have a wheel you can put on and get to the nut with the wheel on? My del sols are good for this. I can have the wheel on and can really get up on my 1/2 ratchet with the 32mm socket. Or I've used and open end/close end wrench (close end on nut) with another big open ended wrench intertwined to make a breaker bar type of leverage. If the car is on the ground with the wheel on, it will go. Well...I'm 205lbs and I have gotten some stubborn ones but couldn't get a CRX axles nut off before (it was sitting with no wheel on it for almost a month...in winter) so we cut it (were replacing clutch and axles anyways). Try it with the fluid, wheel on and the 2 wrenches. I think you can use a 1-1/6 open end...or it might be the 1-1/8. if you can borrow them both from someone (or already have them), you can use the wrong one for the breaker bar portion!

If you broke a breaker bar....cheap breaker bar. I know they use them on 18 wheelers so no little Honda bolt should beat a breaker bar. Get a piece of metal form a metal shop and use it (thick round or square tubing)
