Oil light help
I drive a 2008 honda civic ex and 3 days ago I got an oil change. The light went off but my oil life is showing 20% still. I can't figure out whats wrong for the life of me and when I asked at the place where I got the oil change they told me to hold the select button down till it resets but when I reset it, it shoots back up to 100% then within minutes its back down to 20%. Does anyone have any idea what could be going on?
Did you read your manual?
Edit: You mean the low oil light (icon of an oil can), right ? Or is it the yellow wrench of the maintenance light?

The low oil light isn't on. Its when I hit the select button it tells me my oil is at 20% and if I hold the button down it will go back to 100% then drop again. I looked in the manual and couldn't find anything on it. That's why I resorted to asking here.
That's good, I thought you meant this light.
Does the percentage flash after you hold it down for a while? You're supposed to hold down the sel button until it begins to flash, which is what you did. But then you need to press and hold it down again, until it stays at 100.

^X2. When you're asking someone else who performed you oil change for you how to reset it, it's very unlikely you read the manual.
And I'm still not sure what light you're talking about. The maintenance minder does not come on until oil life is at 15%.

What I think he is saying is that he went in for an oil change on his car at 20%. The person/garage who did it for him told him how to reset it, which he did. The result was that the oil life meter went back to 100%, but shortly thereafter, the oil light went right back to 20%. Sounds weird to me, but that's what I got from it.
