ok so i have this 87 CRX,i was told it was an SI by the person i bought it from but there is no tags stating that it is so idk,ither way i belive it has a D15 in it ((stock motor nun the less)) and the idle was bouncing between 2 and 2 1/3rd then i pulled up on the peddel thinking the peddel maybe be sticking and may be part of the issue and the RPMs dropped to idleing between 1 and 1 /2 and i can not think of what this may be.this is my first classic honda so i dont know a whole lot about there workings.im going to try to upload a video of gage and motor so you can see and hear,PLEASE HELP ME!!!

CRX SI has a sunroof, D15 fuel injection, red SI badge somewhere on the back.

Yes, you car is an SI. What is the red light on the tach?

 

sunroof and fuel injection both.red light is just parking break.thank you ill look that page up now.

 

my alternator is good,i let it run and took off the battery to check before i posted but ill check belt tension. thank you.

 

O and PGMFI light comes on when i turn key befor i start it,could this be an issue?

 

If you your PGMFI stays on when the car is running, either the fuel pump or the alternator will take a crap, it's either one of those. It's been a while, bad memories, getting old.

 

ha ha ha i hear ya there.the pgmfi light goes off a second or so after i turn key to the run position without starting and dosenot turn back on.

 

You have to take this thing off and clean the inside of it really, really good. It's right behind the throttlebody towards the firewall.

ok so i cleaned that out and it didnt make a difference,i didnt adjust belt tension but i will do that later and update.

 

My 87 Civic Si does this too! It does it randomly though. I just figured it was vacuum leak.

 

i dont know,i picked up this car as an iffy runner at best and it craped out on me then one day i was abel to start it back up.but ither way i cleaned out that idler controller thing and put it back on now my pgm-fi light comes on after it runs for a minute >.<

What do you mean it crapped out on you one day? Did it start up, idle really crappy, then just die? Bc Mine does that too randomly.... My pgm-fi light comes on while driving too.

I'm just following. I've replaced both the alternator and battery like 3 months ago. I will be selling my car shortly.
