Default battery problem

I have a prob with my battery. The batt reads 12v so its good but wen I try to start my car it doesn't even crank. Wat is it? It will start one time and wen it does start it starts really slow. Its like the power drops a lot. I've had the batt tested by kragen and it checks out good. I can only push start my car. Can anyone point me to where I need wat I need to do? Thanx

as long as the car it came from has the same tranny you do. assuming your car is a stick then the starter you get will have to be from a manual trans.

manual tranny gets a manual starter. Auto tranny gets auto starter. Doesn't matter if its hydro or cable and as long as its d-series.

i had the same problem. took the starter and had it checked, it passed. took the battery to have it tested, it passed. checked my grounds, all were good. it ended up being my battery. even tho it passed it was bad.

When the battery is tested at the shop they don't test the cranking amps. I checked mine and it was fine. I'm gona see if there is power going to my starter solenoid if not, then I'm suspecting a bad ground.

you say it is cranking slowly so it is in the starter circuit there is to much resistance in the circuit check your battery cables

So I was looking at the starter wiring and I se that the power is directly from the batt. And the ground goes somewhere. Anyone know where I could measure resistance on the ground side? Anyone have a wiring diagram for the starter?

Simple way to test the ground system, jump the car and put the negative jumper on a clean engine bolt. If it starts no problem then it's the ground. If it even cranks a little, just slowly, then the starting system is working up to the starter. Are the battery terminals and cables clean and tight? Also what is the voltage on the battery when it's sitting and when you crank it over?

No voltage drop between starter and the battery. I'm getting 12v to the + side of the starter so I'm guessn its the solenoid

Are you getting 12V at the Black/White wire on solenoid, or are you talking about the battery cable connection?
