Most likely yes connect it if your reverse lights dont turn on replace it.if your reverse lights are on in neutral or gear replace it.

I have checked normal instances...grounds/bulbs/ all good.

im am stumped because they used to work but then just stopped.
there is a harness connector that has been disconnected and has no other male end for it in the whole engine bay? i have checked all ends. there is no connectors for this.

Thats a different transmition than mine, my cables come out the bottom...its a manual. Ls trans

today i conected the stock crx reverse harness wires togther and the lights worked yet when i connected them to the LS trans and put the gear shifter in reverse the lights did not come on?

the connector coming out of the trans is a two wire connector.

I dont know where the issue is, i guess the internals of the trans stopped working for reverse lights

well i would bet (and hope) that the sensor itself is faulty. try manually activating it outside of the tranny and see if it makes the lights kick on. i imagine it must be fairly unlikely for something internally to fail which would lead to the solenoid not being depressed. because its a b-series trans, with the sensor on the bottom edge, you will end up draining the tranny to check this.

Yea it manually kicks on the reverse lights!!!
Were is the sensor connected?
inside the trans...I have connected the ls trans wires to the crx reverse wire...When the car is put in Reverse the lights do not come on...

Could this be inside the trans
or pin's in the ecu?

follow the harness on the trans and you'll see the reverse switch. it should have a cover on it.

all the switch does is close the circuit to make the reverse lights come on. personally, i've never had one fail on me, but it seems most likely that the switch has gone bad.

put the car in neutral, look in the solenoid opening. then put it in reverse, and do the same again. see if you can see the piece inside the tranny moving outward which would depress the switch. if it appears to be functioning, and moving adequately, then perhaps the solenoid is just not making that connection when it should. and maybe when you press it with your finger you are pressing it further than the trans should have to, and that causes it to now function. i would try another solenoid and see if it fixes the problem. if not, then maybe something squirly really is going on inside the trans :/

Okay sounds good!!!Everyone is summing up that the solenoid around the wires entering the trans has a malfunction...i will pop the hood and look into. and tell you guys what i find up with the function/health of the solenoid.

I will also check with a volt meter if the wires exiting the trans has any kind of connection when in gear[s] especially reverse.

Note-the car is a Ls-crx so the Ls trans most likely is the difference. but i believe it should work regardless the difference from factory.
Possible issues could be the two wires have a break or they have nothing to do with Reverse,

well since it worked when you pressed it by hand, i don't think wiring is the issue. i have an ls trans in mine, using a d16 reverse solenoid, and it works perfectly.
