Default Most Secure Lug Nuts (Searched)

-I know people would relate this to not telling about one's security system because thieves look here too
-I know "If they really want it, they'll take it" and so on so let's please skip anything related.
-Edit: I know ANY security is just a LAYER and is there just to slow a thief down.
-Edit: This is specifically for aftermarket wheels
-Edit: There are different kinds of thieves: one that wants your stereo, one that wants your wheels, one that wants a Type R, etc

All aside by statistic if possible, which lug nut is relatively the best as far as anti-theft?

i use random OEM Honda lug nuts. should be 90305-SA5-003's (std short closed end)

i feel that it would be the most hysterical fvckin thing ever if someone stole just my wheels... plus insurance would pay for them, then i buy some spoons or something i have been holding off on cuz i cant choose a wheel lol... seriously who is gonna still JUST the wheels off my R? i concentrate on them not stealing MY R...

McGard makes the Acura wheel locks, so I use their tapered lug nuts and locks for aftermarket wheels.

Wheel locks just slows down thieves. It is there to help buy you more time of catching them in the process. Wheels are easy to remove and are even easier with the special tool that you can buy are Sears. That best locks to buy are the ones that sit completely flush with the rim and are hollow in the middle. To brake those off uses requires an air chisel and will damage the rim

I've seen cars dumped on the floor on its frame and suspension just for some wheels and seats.

I guess a good question is:

Has someone tried to steal your wheels and failed? If so, what kind of lug nuts did you have?

Lug nuts are never secure, I have the Snap-On/Craftsman tools to take almost any of them off within seconds. Aluminum lug nuts are the worst. There is no rite answer for this question.

^very true. I think the design of the wheel itself can determine how safe a wheel is. I used to work at a Discount tire and now work at a Honda dealership, and so far, I havent ran across a challenge yet. Having the right tools can get almost any lugnut off. But if you look at the "RC Stark" wheels, they seem to almost hide the lugnuts making it difficult to steal the wheels, unlike my mf10's, which expose the lugnuts

Hey, people like stock wheels. :p I think the one rusted wheel will keep them away though.

This is actually a good question posed by the OP

Out of 14 posts there are about 2 responses that are on-topic. EVERY layer that may slow these lowlives down is a good investments IMHO. Yeah, they can be bypassed quickly, but slower than a stock lugnut w/o any locks.

A long time ago I noticed that two of the four lug nuts on one of the wheels of my GSR were close to breaking off, and then they did break off. Part of the stud came off inside the nut. Whether or not they broke due to a theft attempt is uncertain, but none of the other lugs on the car were like that. They had all been tightened by hand with a torque wrench to 80 ft/lb. At the time I was using the McGard aftermarket lugs/locks that I mentioned.
