Icon2 Dual valve springs with oem retainers

How is using aftermarket valve springs with Oem retainers? I'm only going to be running ITR cams at the most, just don't really like TI retainers, and they won't really make a difference cause my redline will be set at 8000 tops. I've looked for ITR springs with out luck, and also just another set of GSR intake springs with no luck. Someone point me in the right direction, thanks.

You can run 2002-2004 RSX type-s retainers and use your current keepers. They are CrMoV. I run them with supertech springs and Blox C cams.

Are those flat or dish style retainers? If I recall, I read somewhere that there are 2 styles and one gives more clearance.

I understood your 1st post. You can run them but I would not recommend it. Supertechs are significantly stiffer than OEM and the fit between the spring and the retainer is not exact. Depending upon the condition of your current retainer, you could experience a lot of wear very quickly. When you change springs it is best to change the retainer.

Ok so i just talked to an Acurs parts sales man. The 02-04 rsx-s retainers are about $5.30 a pop wich will be around $92 with tax for 16 of them.
What year retainers shuld i order. Like stated above. Some give more clearance. This will be in an b20vtec with 12.5:1 CR and an PNP b16 head with dual valve springs, supertech flat face valves. Will run it on CTR cams for a lil while then save up for some Stage 2 cams.

Thanks

Again, as already mentioned previously, you want 02-04 retainers.

acura automotive parts gives 2 part numbers for the retainers.

14765-PRB-A00 RETAINER, VALVE SPRING 016 2002 RSX 3.09 2.32
14765-PRB-A01 RETAINER, VALVE SPRING 016 2002 RSX 3.00 2.25

Is there a major difference between the intake and exhaust retainer?

You could probably get those for cheaper, check out a few genuine acura parts websites first.. heres what i found real quick http://www.acuraoemparts.com/delray/...All&vinsrch=no
The part#14765-PRB-A00 is just $2.32 a piece there

A quick search of 14765-PRB-A00 in google and theres three links near the top stating these are the flat ones, and the A01s are dished.

Well there are two options. The dished ones and the flat ones. Wich are better for an all motor build
Thanks

Guys, you should use the flat ones. The part number is 14765-PRB-A00.

Hopefully that clarifies for everyone.

Would you use B-series keepers or K-series keepers if using the K-series retainers on a B-series head? Someone told me they are the same keepers.

stock retainers will bust with high rpms and stiffer springs.. been there done that, wont do it again.

whats wrong with TI? if they are made right and installed with a matching spring you wont have any issues at all with ti.
