difficulty level?
so i purchased some coilover sleeves for my 94 cx hatch just until i have enough money to but some fullcoilovers. Anyways i am going to use my stock struts with them and i was wondering if putting them on is hard? The thing i am wondering about is wat "setting" should i have them turned to before i put the entire strut assemblt together? any advise on installin them please help me out
thanks

thanks
Everything is pretty much straight forward, you take it all apart (some bolts might be really stuck) then it all goes back together the opposite way.
but you might need a spring compressor to get the stock springs off the shocks, cause if you don't use one as soon as you take off the top hat the spring will fly out like crazy.
Hard to say what setting to put them on since most brands are different, but I would just start with them all the way up, then bring them down bit by bit until you like the height.

you will die without a spring compressor, but difficulty level is basically if you cant figure it out, you need to kill yourself or at the very least get a new hobby. its easy.

My lowering springs didnt need one, but shake the spring first to see if it moves. If it does it wont fly off, but if it's nice and tight you need a spring compressor. * thats with the strut assembly off the car still together though.
No need for a compressor if you have access to an impact. I have done about 10 so far and haven't had any springs shoot off. The nuts fly a few feet, but as long as you aim the strut away from you and wear safety glasses, it shouldn't be an issue.
i have never used a spring compressor. and if they are lowering springs they dont have as much pressure on them. just put the strut on the ground and aim it away from you or any friends or anything fragile and slowly take the nut off the top. or use an impact and just let it fly off. just be sure to NOT aim it at anyone. if they have pressure they will shoot off and you will have to find the nut and washer when it does. its not hard at all. i changed my friends suspension from rs*r springs to gc coilovers on his eg in 45 min in a parking garage with a honda jack. lol
You may not need a spring compressor, but if this is your first time, it may be nice to have as insurance against losing teeth. A good dental plan will work in lieu of the compressor though
. Also, you'll only need the compressor for removal of the stock springs. The lowering springs should be short enough to work without. One thing to keep in mind is that stock shocks tend to die a bit prematurely when coupled with lower-than-stock springs as they are compressed more. I had this issue with my GSR...nothing a new set of shocks won't fix. BTW, the stockers lasted 2 years

i tried to get my front struts off, couldn't even get the damn bolts to move even after soaking them with pb blaster. so i gave up.
you can get a spring compressor from autozone, they allow you to rent it basically where you just return it after you finish
