Question about o2 sensor location on header
Hey guys.
I've got a 92 CX hatch that I recently swapped a SOHC ZC motor into.
My question is this...
I picked up a header for it yesterday since I'm currently using my factory CX manifold which I know is WAY too restrictive and I noticed that I don't have a choice of where to put my o2 sensor. This particular header makes me relocate it to the back right in front of the cat. Will this cause a change in my A/F ratio at all? Obviously I don't want to cause a rich condition. I'm still using my CX harness and ECU so I have the "dumb" one wire type o2 sensor.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Putting the O2 sensor in front of the cat will make absolutely no difference in what the sensor is seeing compared to further up the exhaust. Putting the O2 sensor behind the cat is a different story though.
Also if you aren't running wideband, your meter (if you choose to install one) is just going to bounce around and you aren't going to get an accurate reading. As for your factory manifold being "too" restrictive, I wouldn't go that far, it could be better but it isn't slowing your engine down unless you spent a ridiculous amount on internals and boost..
Yes, but remember the thing about CX manifolds is that they use that ridiculous "pre-cat" 6 inches down the runners (which are about the size of my thumb) which is great at the emissions tent but horribly restrictive. I definitely have something to gain by straightening out my exhaust flow
