moving to dallas Texas where you at!!
Just wondering what I need to do to get my car registered.I have not cat. so I am sure it wont pass any sort of smog. What do they look for to pass a car.
well you have to get it inspected before you get it registered.. what year is your car? 96 and newer cars if your CEL is on you automatically fail, 95 and older they actually run the car on a dyno to check emissions/smog. You wont pass if you dont have a cat if its 95 or older, 96 and newer if you have an o2 eliminator and the CEL is NOT on you should be fine.. Other than the emissions part of the inspection they will check lights (high/low beams, turn signals, brake lights, tail lights, lisence plate lights, there cant be a cracked or broken portion of any light that emitts light outside of the housing) they also check all lug nuts, make sure theres no broken studs, they check tires (must have at least 2/32" of tread and no wires showing) they also check your brake and power steering fluid, make sure theres no leaks, wiper blades.. they check alot of stuff all of that is just off the top of my head. i used to be a state inspector so i got alot of it memorized.. some shops will be mor lenient than others but they have cracked down on illegal inspections pretty bad so good luck.
