go to a shop. They have a machine that pops it right off. also, when installing the new tire, its going to be extremely hard to put on yourself. and tire irons might damage your rim. the shop machine has plastic parts that wont damage the wheel. then it has to be balanced anyway. they can do it all in about 10 minutes.

Call tire shops in your area and ask.

For me it's around $40 for mount and balance. If you have old tires on the rims they might charge you a disposal fee.

Do it yourself, especially if if there low pros. And don't let the old timers BS you about balancing them, just hot glue some old fishing weights on the inside of the wheel and you'll be fine. Also, next time you rebuild your motor, try to save a little cash by honing out your block with a rusty chisel and sledge hammer. Dude, pay the 10 bucks and have it done right. If there steelies, go ahead and TRY to get the tire off, seriously. you wont do it.

dude trust me if wont happen by using your hands. I work for a tires shop and we use air compressed and hydraulic machines, and sometimes they can be a task. Also seating the beads onto the rim w/o a bead seater/ bead blaster can be a bitch.

low profile tires yes, but some of the balloon style tires can be done with a couple screwdrivers, can of wd40, and a small ratchet strap to help seal the bead inorder to air it up

i've done it many of times on the bigger tires and truck tires. i've also done lots of commercial tires this way and sometimes without even taking the tire off.

but for all the more it costs, i have to agree with everyone on here, take it to a shop and have it done professionally that way it's quick and plus they will be balanced

If they're alloys you're just going to mangle your rims, if they're steelies, yeah you can do it if you have the proper hand tools, but its a pain in the *** and your back will hate you in the morning. I have done it before a few times, but believe me, its not worth it.

I done it before and it is a bitch but I just did it on my ls webs I would never do it on some nice rims. also I had to do it had no other choice if not I would of gladly pay the 10 or 15 bucks for it. I had to use crow bars and sledge hammers and pry bars with lots of soap let me tell you it was not fun. ha ha

OLdid you make it out w/o tearing or chunking up the beads? When that happens its a blowout waiting to happen. How did the wheels look? i just have bad visions in my head

its times like these where working in a dealership or being in school comes in handy. but like most people are saying take it to a tire shop, $40 tops for all 4 tires and i cant imagine how you would do it your self, then again i never had to.

I have a tire changer that I picked up from harbor freight for pretty cheap. I wouldn't recommend using it on rims you really care about, but stockies and winter wheels work great and save you a little bit of money in the long run.

Your best bet would be to find a little shop run by an old guy or a minority or something and they are usually cheaper than the mainstream shops.

yeah go to a shop unless you got a machine sitting in your garage. you can use tire spoons which is a f-ing pain. well it sucks when you gotta change semi tires since my dads tire machine cant do big tires. its more work than you really need to do especially when gettin it done at a shop is cheap

I work with semi tires on a daily basis. Its not too bad once you learn all the tricks and get it down, they never get lighter though. The average steel wheel mounted w/ a tire weighs something like 215 pounds, good think im 6 2 230 to push em around. haha.

man i don't know what kind of semi rims/tires you are talking about but i change 11R 24.5's with either steel or aluminum rims everyday and they only way about 110-120 lbs max even when we change steering tires which are the jumbo super singles they still only go for about 140 lbs

you must be changing some split style rims with some monster tires lol

LOL well i do alot of the conventional semi apps like you said but also do alot of work for the water front in seattle. they run SOLID tires on steel rims on all they machinery. The top pick tires we order and change for them weigh upwards of 800 pounds, we have to use forklifts and cranes to move em around. Its dumb. We also do alot of local construction backhoes, bulldozers, loader etc. I can honestly say it makes for s strong back and i dont have to go to the gym everyday.
